For ThinkAloud · Effective date: September 26, 2026
Summary: ThinkAloud is a local-first personal thinking and organization app. The thoughts, recordings, transcripts, terminology, and generated documents you create are stored on your device, protected by encryption. The app does not require an account. Recording and on-device transcription happen locally. When you choose an online AI action such as Organize or Create document, only the content you select is sent through Lumacode's service to an AI provider, after you confirm.
ThinkAloud is a local-first personal thinking and organization app provided by Lumacode ("Lumacode," "we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how ThinkAloud handles information when you use the Android app.
ThinkAloud stores the content you create in the app's private storage on your device. This may include thoughts, audio recordings, transcripts, terminology, AI-organized text, generated documents, and related information such as creation times and audio duration.
The app protects its structured local data with encryption and stores sensitive credentials using security features provided by Android. Audio and export files are kept in the app's private storage. ThinkAloud does not automatically upload your complete local library or recordings to Lumacode.
ThinkAloud requests microphone access only when you use the recording feature. Recordings are saved in the app's private storage on your device.
When you choose on-device transcription, the recording is processed locally and is not sent to Lumacode for transcription. If you choose a speech-recognition service provided by your device, that service may process audio and terminology hints on the device or over a network, depending on your device, settings, and the provider's practices. Lumacode does not control that service.
Online AI processing occurs only when you choose an AI-powered action, such as Organize or Create document. Before first use, ThinkAloud explains that the selected content will be processed online and asks you to confirm.
To provide the requested result, ThinkAloud sends the following through Lumacode's service to an AI processing provider:
ThinkAloud does not automatically send thoughts that you did not select, your complete local history, or your audio recordings as part of these AI organization requests. Selected text may contain personal or sensitive information if you included it, so please review your selection before continuing.
AI output may be inaccurate. The returned result is stored locally so that you can review, edit, export, or delete it.
When you use online AI processing, Lumacode may process a device-generated identifier, app and platform information, approximate request region, security credentials, request status, usage amounts, performance information, and limited error details.
We use this information to provide and secure the service, prevent abuse, apply service limits, route requests, investigate failures, and maintain reliability. We do not use your selected text to create an advertising profile.
We use hosting, security, and AI processing service providers to operate the optional online AI features. These providers may process the content you select and the limited technical information needed to provide and protect the service.
Depending on where you use ThinkAloud and where our providers operate, information may be processed outside your country or region. We use service providers only for the purposes described in this Policy and apply safeguards required by applicable law.
We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, respond to valid legal process, protect rights or safety, investigate abuse, or complete a business reorganization with appropriate notice and protections. We do not sell your personal information.
You control when content leaves ThinkAloud through Android's sharing interface.
You decide which app or recipient receives shared content. After sharing, the selected destination handles that content under its own privacy practices. Export files may remain in ThinkAloud's private storage until you clear Android app storage or uninstall the app.
Local content remains on your device until you delete it, use Clear all local data, clear ThinkAloud's Android storage, or uninstall the app. Clear all local data removes the thoughts, generated documents, terminology, recordings, and local database files managed by ThinkAloud. It does not delete copies that you previously exported or shared, or information already handled by a speech-recognition service or a destination you selected.
Some local security credentials may remain after Clear all local data so that the app can create and protect a new local database and authenticate later online requests. Clearing ThinkAloud's Android app storage or uninstalling the app normally removes app-managed local credentials, subject to Android behavior.
Lumacode and its service providers retain security and operational information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide and protect the service, prevent abuse, troubleshoot problems, meet legal obligations, and administer the service. You may use Request data deletion in the app's Profile page or contact us to request deletion of server-side information associated with your device. The request template includes the random device identifier needed to locate the relevant records but does not automatically attach your thoughts, recordings, transcripts, or documents.
You can:
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability, or to complain to a data-protection authority. These rights may be subject to legal exceptions. Because ThinkAloud does not require an account and most content remains only on your device, Lumacode may not possess or be able to identify your local content.
ThinkAloud is not directed to children under 13 or below the minimum age required to consent to data processing in their jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect children's personal information through Lumacode's service. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the service, contact us so that we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.
We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including protected local storage, encryption, secure network connections, and authenticated service requests. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
The current ThinkAloud 1.0 release does not contain advertising, subscriptions, or in-app purchases. We do not sell personal or sensitive user data, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We may update this Privacy Policy when ThinkAloud's features, service providers, or legal obligations change. We will post the updated version at the public Privacy Policy URL, change the effective date, and provide additional notice when required.
